こんいちわ!
こんいちわ!First week done! At home MTC has been hectic a bit with all the classes and packing up our house, but so far everything has been good! Some of the days I was on Zoom for 11 hours, but it made me realize how hard missionary work can be. Because I know this is probably the easiest it will get. I already have been able to learn so much every day about the gospel of Christ, and have seen so many blessings come from it just during this week. I’m excited to keep learning in the MTC but most excited to get to go to Japan and get help and serve the people there.Language study has been one of my favorite parts so far. The Japanese language is a very interesting but a fun one to learn. And I can’t wait to be able to really talk to the people in Sapporo. But for now saying Konnichiwa and simple prayers in Japanese will do. But really it amazes me how much you can learn with the Gift of Tongues. At the start of this week I wouldn’t have thought that just in 3 days I would be able to pray. Or say anything at all really. But I have been able to see God’s hand in my life more than ever. Especially while helping me learn the Hiragana. I found out that I will need to know both of their alphabets pretty soon which both have 46 letters. But with just like a day of practice I’ve got the first one down! And me and one of my comps Elder Stanley love making up different ways to remember the letters like my favorite な(na) because it looks like a guy jumping on a fish like “na” you ain’t gettin away. And Elder Stanley’s favorite と(To) because it looks like a toe haha. Our other comp kinda just looks at us weird when we do this, but hey if it works it works.Me and my comps got to do our first helping others lesson with a friend. And I actually felt like a missionary for maybe the first time while teaching that lesson. I could feel the help of God in that lesson. We were calm and I felt the need to share the First Vision with her, which I had just learned. But I wasn’t worried about messing it up. And the words just flowed out of my mouth, and I got to testify that I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, who was called on by name. God knows us personally. And we can pray to him anytime, anywhere.I’m excited for all the adventures to come and all the things I’ll learn. love and miss you all!
Elder Larkins! You are just the BEST! I can't believe you are learning Japanese, the hardest language in the world. You look so good as a missionary. I am praying for you and I know that you will be fantastic. Can't wait to hear from you next week!!
